Penza, 26 February 2012. PenzaNews. The mass festivals devoted to Pancake week (Maslenitsa) are held in different parts of Penza on Sunday, February 26. Residents and guests of the city take part in actions in the central recreation park named after V.G. Belinsky, in park “Olympiysky,” in the Penza zoo and Ulyanovsky park.

Within the limits of the celebratory program “Wide Pancake Week” visitors of the zoo could ride horses, take part in competitions and quizzes and drink tea with pancakes. Besides, there was an auction “Come, choose, buy, don’t hesitate!” Bentamsky cock became the main prize of the auction.

There are five grounds on the territory of the recreation park named after V.G. Belinsky. On the central ground the visitors are met by employees of the center of culture and leisure, on the others musical bands of the city, including pupils of children’s schools of arts and art studio “Ocharovashka.”

On avenue of masters the exhibition of national crafts is presented where residents and guests of Penza can buy hand-made gifts and souvenirs.

The celebratory program will finish at 8 p.m. Straw effigy is burnt at 5.30 p.m.
