By April 18, 2012, an initiative about electivity of the head of city administration for the first ten days of vote in the Internet has been supported by 54 persons, including oppositionists, journalists, businessmen and active citizens.

Signers support abolition of “head of the city” post, renewal direct people elections of mayor and modification of Charter of Penza.

In their opinion, it is necessary to hold meeting of residents, public hearings, city referendum and to organize collecting not less than 5 thousand signatures in support of this initiative.

According to Charter of Penza from June 30, 2005, the head of administration of the regional center is appointed to the post by Penza municipal duma among the candidates presented by the competitive commission according to competition results.

The contract with the head of Penza city administration is signed for a term of office of municipal duma, which has chosen the person to this post till new municipal duma start its, but not less than for two years.
