Penza, 10 May 2012. PenzaNews. About 200 residents of the Penza region including 99 children under 14 age visited treatment-and-prophylactic establishments complaining of acarids’ stings.

“In comparison with the similar period of the previous year, the number of patients increased by 80 persons,” reported the press service of regional government of Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights.

According to department press-service, acarids stung 95 persons from 4th till 10th of May.

“By May 10, 13 victims of pincers’ attack were registered in Olimpiyskaya Alleyea, 7 persons were stung form 4th till 10th of May. 3 acarids were examined on ixodic acarid-borne borreliosis, one Borrelia was found,” explained in the press service.

“Now acarid processing is carried out in the nursery territory for dogs JSC “Snabservice,” in children's camps “Zarya” and “Belka,” Kichkileyka and sanatorium “Niva,” added in the department.
