Blood donations as part of “Thank You, Donor!” campaign to be held in center of Penza

Penza, 9 June 2012. PenzaNews. “Thank you, Donor!”Campaign dedicated to World Blood Donor Day will be held in Penza next Thursday, June 14.
“From 9:00 to 13:00, mobile units for blood collection will be located in Fountain Square. Everyone is welcome,” said PR manager of Regional Blood Transfusion Station Marina Matyukina.
She added that donors should have passport. It is recommended to drink sweet tea and eat a plain roll in the morning.
“Festive program will be organized for the participants of the event during which donors will be awarded,” Marina Matyukina said.
The partner of the campaign is a charitable foundation supporting family, motherhood and childhood Pokrov. It will collect items for orphans and children from low-income families, such as diapers and other hygiene products, baby food, clothes, toys and stationery.
The World Health Assembly established World Blood Donor Day in Geneva in May 2005.
It is an annual event to be held each year on 14 June. Karl Landsteiner, an Austrian physician and immunologist who won the 1930 Nobel Prize for his discovery of human blood groups was born on this day in 1868.
