Penza, 22 June 2012. PenzaNews. Komsomol activists of Penza were strongly against the exhibition of Alexander Ustyugov’s film “I serve the Soviet Union” at a federal NTV Channel on the Day of Memory and Sorrow. The young people shared their views on the film at a rally, which took place in front of the regional Department of Culture and Archives building on Thursday, June 21.
Participants of the rally, about ten people, adopted text of the resolution and sent it to Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky, Minister of Communications and Mass Media Nikolai Nikiforov, leadership of the NTV company, and Acting Head of regional Department of Culture and Archives Evgeny Shilov.
The signatories believe that the film will “darken already tragic date in the national history, especially it will hurt the war veterans and home front workers,” while today’s generation “will begin to increasingly hate their country, because the film lacks the slightest sense of patriotism.”
According to the participants of the picket who adopted the resolution, the film “is full of many historical inconsistencies that are evident to even casual viewers.”
“Obviously, the film is created for narrow-minded people because it is full of fiction, apparently, produced by unhealthy imagination of the author,” says the resolution.
“In this regard, we require you to cancel the exhibition of “I serve the Soviet Union” film at the TV channel NTV. We hope that the leadership of NTV will follow the voice of people and make adjustments to the broadcasting network,” says the document.
Meanwhile, according to the federal mass media, despite the request of Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky, the leadership of NTV reported that there would be no changes in the broadcasting network, so the film “I serve the Soviet Union” will be aired on the Day of Memory and Sorrow, June 22 at 19:30 Moscow Time.
