Penza, 10 July 2012. PenzaNews. 134 people died of alcoholism in the Penza region in the first five months of 2012, which is seven people less compared to the same period of the previous year.

According to the head doctor of the regional narcological hospital Yuri Utkin, the rate of primary alcoholic psychosis incidence decreased by 17% and made 10,8 per 100 thousand people.

“Significant percentage rate of alcoholic psychosis remains in Penza — 21,4 per 100 thousand people, in Shemysheyka — 11,4, Kamenka — 11,3, and Lunino — 10,1,” reported the press service of the Ministry of Health and Social development of the region quoting the head doctor of the regional narcological hospital.

According to Yuri Utkin, such a high index indicates the lack of preventive work carried out by the administration, social services and bodies of internal affairs, which should prevent the sale of low-quality alcohol surrogates, moonshine and various alcohols.
