Penza, 17 July 2012. PenzaNews. 133 car accidents in which nine people died and 181 got injuries of varying severity occurred through the fault of drunk drivers in the Penza region during the first six months of 2012.

According to the group of promotion of road traffic safety of the regional department of the Traffic Police, the largest number of accidents falls on weekends and darkness hours.

“With the increasing number of accidents caused by drunk drivers, traffic police officers conduct preventive actions weekly starting from May. In the framework of these actions 58 people, driving a vehicle while intoxicated, were detained; 20 of them — in Penza,” added the group of promotion.

In addition, it terminated 22 infringements committed by drivers of mopeds, scooters and similar vehicles, including two drivers of scooters driving in a state of intoxication.
