Penza, 23 July 2012. PenzaNews. Environmental celebration, the Day of Sura, is planned in Penza on September 8. The initiative belongs to Penza branch of the Russian Geographic Society.

“The Day of Sura will be one more reason to attract attention of the public, business, and government to the problems of the river, its importance for the Penza region and Russia as a whole, to recall the importance of preserving the waterway of the region for the future generations,” noted the Chairman of the Department of the Russian Geographic Society Igor Pantyushov.

According to him, the Day of Sura is to become the day of massive cleaning up of the riverbank, with “EKA” youth movement volunteers, students and pupils.

“We plan to organize a kind of camping with special areas for lectures and master classes held by the veterans of Penza tourism, divers and water tourists,” declared the agency interlocutor.

In addition, children will be able to take part in the team environmental campaigns, drawing contests, lotteries and quizzes.
