Penza, 24 August 2012. PenzaNews. Picket against current utility rates organized by known human rights activist Yuri Voblikov was held at the building of the Penza Department of Housing on Friday morning, August 24. The event was attended by four people, including Yuri Voblikov, and about a dozen police officers who were protecting the rule of law. The picketers were holding three posters and shouting slogans: “Pirates of the housing, ready up!”, “Stop fooling and milking us!”, “Rubbish to authorities, money to people.”

During the event, Yuri Voblikov ripped up the poster of “housing monster,” which symbolizes from his point of view extortionate utility rates.

“I think it is unacceptable when aged people give 50% of their pension to this “housing monster,” he noted.

Police officers did not prevent the picket and asked Yuri Voblikov to sign a warning about the inadmissibility of ethnic hatred inciting and propaganda of extremism at public events.

After the picket Yuri Voblikov tried to get into the building of the city Department of Housing but the guard did not let him in. A few minutes later, Vladimir Mutovkin, Director of municipal institution Department of Housing of the city of Penza, came out to the participants of the event and explained that he was ready to admit to examination any complaints in writing.
