Concerts, airshows and fireworks took place on City Day in Penza

Penza, 16 September 2012. PenzaNews. Festive events dedicated to the 349th anniversary of the city took place in Penza on Saturday, September 15. Performances of creative groups, fairs and exhibitions were held at several locations: near the Drama Theatre, in Fountain Square, in Moskovskaya Street, in Lenin Square and near Rostok monument.

Different folk bands performed in the framework of the festival “Krepost Russ” (Fortress Russia) on a stage set near the Drama Theatre, the program in Lenin Square was aimed at young people, holiday events in Fountain Square — at families with children.
Brass band played in the park named after D. Davidov where the events dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino were held.
Traditional crafts fairs took place at several sites where citizens could buy what they wanted.
Touring exhibition of children’s drawings “Penza on the way to the 350th anniversary” took place in Fountain Square. The drawings and paintings of art schools’ students depicted various parts of their native city. In the evening, Sursky Bride festival was held in the Square where couples married in the current year could demonstrate their talent.
Near Rostok monument, the viewers watched airshow by aerobatic teams. After that in the evening, award ceremony for Penza citizens took place there. Residents of the city were awarded with letters of thanks from the governor, the head of administration and the chairman of the Legislative Assembly. The ceremony was followed with the costume procession “Cultural Campaign,” and performance by Vladimir Presnyakov.
Fireworks became the highlight of the City Day in Penza.
