Increase in cases of acute respiratory diseases registered in Penza region

Penza, 23 October 2012. PenzaNews. According to the press service of the regional Service for Consumer Supervision of Russia, the tendency of increase in the number of cases of acute respiratory diseases, which is currently below epidemic level, is registered in the Penza region.

“As of Monday, October 22, 9,5% more cases are registered this week compared to the previous one. The highest number of cases are indicated in Novonikolsky, Kuznetsky, Lopatinsky, Sosnovoborsky, Spassky and Zemetchinsky area,” explained the department.
The press service noted that the number of cases of infection among children under two years old increased by 19,2%, and among children aged 7–14 — by 28,4%.
“The cases of influenza have not been registered,” the press service emphasized.
According to the regional Service for Consumer Supervision of Russia, 34,330 people have been vaccinated, that is 2,4% of the population of the region. In total, during the epidemic season of 2012–2013, they plan to vaccinate 416,800 people.
