Sausage meat infected with African swine fever could be in Penza region

Penza, 31 October 2012. PenzaNews. The genetic material of African swine fever pathogen was detected by Federal State Budgetary Institution “Tatar Interregional Veterinary Laboratory” in the batch of sausages that came from Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Kuban” located in the Krasnodar Krai.

According to the press service of the Agricultural Supervising Service of Russia, the products were accompanied with a veterinary certificate issued by the veterinary service of the area proving safety of the product.

“An investigation held by the specialists of the Agricultural Supervising Service of Russia found that for the past month meat products of this company have been sent to the Federal penalty service in 14 regions of Russia, including the Penza region,” the press service clarified.

The heads of territorial managements of the Agricultural Supervising Service of Russia were directed to arrest and isolate suspicious products till any further instructions.
