The official award ceremony, which was attended by the executive director of the local community foundation “Civil Union” Oleg Sharipkov and board member of a nonprofit organization Alexander Seinov, was held at the Centre for Development of Children and Youth of Penza on Wednesday, October 31.

The creative team of Zarechny School of Arts received a grant in the amount of 14,960 rubles for the purchase of theatrical scenery and costumes for the musical The Wizard of Oz.

The Penza regional charitable public organization of social assistance “Tvori Dobro” (Do Good) won 13,600 rubles, which will be used to the arrangement of the action “Letter to Santa” and holiday “Dreams Come True” for the inmates of the correctional school in Kuznetsk.

“Information and Library Association” received a grant of 11,440 rubles to create a drama school where about 20 people will study. The association plans to arrange 11 theatrical events.

The Center for Children’s Art in Shemysheysky area and the theater-studio Master of Penza State University of Architecture and Construction received 10 thousand rubles each. The first project involves the upgrade of the existing drama studio and creation of the Theatre for Young Spectators on its base. Students of Penza State University of Architecture and Construction plan to buy theatrical scenery and costumes for The Threepenny Opera play.

According to Oleg Sharipkov, the community foundation “Civil Union” holds competitions to support amateur theater art annually.

“There are about 60 amateur art teams in the Penza region today. Each year, 10–15 of them participate in our competitions – new teams and those who have already received the support take part in them,” he said.

According to Alexander Seinov, these contests are of great importance for children who are involved in performances.

“It would seem that 10–15 thousand rubles is not significant money for a big creative group, but for each team they are of great importance. Without it, new performance may not be possible,” he emphasized.

“Children advance taking part in the performances. And we have to do everything for the next generation,” Alexander Seinov concluded.
