According to the deputy chairman of the regional government Elena Stolyarova, Penza State Agricultural Academy (PSAA) may be reorganized if the management of the institution does not submit a development program to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation by December 15.

“Inter-ministerial committee for monitoring of government educational institutions made a decision that PSAA should be categorized as needing activity optimization because it “did not pass “efficiency filter” according to four criteria out of five,” she explained.

Elena Stolyarova added that if the decision on reorganization is adopted, the regional authorities will insist on creating a single technological university in Penza on the basis of three schools — Agricultural Academy, University of Architecture and Construction, and Technological Academy.

“There are certain concerns that the Agricultural Academy may be attached to a larger agricultural university, such as Saratov State Agricultural University named after N. Vavilov. In my opinion, this option is highly undesirable,” she concluded.
