Penza, 4 December 2012. PenzaNews. A rare atmospheric phenomenon for central Russia — a pink sunset — was observed by Penza residents on Tuesday evening, December 4.

According to meteorologists, usually pink or purple sunset is limited to the western part of the sky, and so it is not always visible, but this time the phenomenon spread across the sky due to a certain combination of air temperature and humidity.

A similar phenomenon was observed by the residents of Moscow in late January 2010.
