Penza City Duma members, participants of the standing committee on public safety, protection of human rights and emergency situations, discussed options for enhancing the work with juveniles in the field of prevention of drug addiction, alcoholism and smoking at the meeting on Thursday, December 6. The head of Penza Yuri Alpatov expressed an idea that education of every child should begin with systematic work with their parents.

“Children usually try to literally copy everything from adults: behavior, attitude to things, habits. Therefore, our task is to prevent the use of drugs, alcohol and tobacco by their parents,” he stressed.

Yuri Alpatov added that it is necessary to intensify the work of social service agencies with families at social risk.

“I suggest that the administration of Penza resumes inspection on entertainment establishments to identify minors spending nights there. City Duma members can also take part in such inspections,” the head of the administration concluded.
