Penza, 9 January 2013. PenzaNews. New Year holidays were relatively quiet in the Penza region. This was announced by the head of the main office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Penza region Sergey Kozlov during a conference call on Wednesday, January 9.

“During the period of holidays only one major accident was registered — water supply system damage in Ternopolskaya St which occurred on Tuesday, January 1. However, this accident was not qualified as an emergency. The system was repaired within a day,” he explained.

Sergey Kozlov also noted that, from January 1 to January 8 no accidents involving water bodies were registered in the region.

“However, 30 fires resulting in three deaths occurred in the Penza region. This index is 25% less compared to the previous year,” commented the head of the main office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in the Penza region.
