Penza, 10 January 2013. PenzaNews. Over 650 people, most of whom are pensioners, took free computer courses during the past five years in the library named after M. Lermontov in Penza.
“The courses are designed for beginners, so the information is presented in accessible language,” the spokesman of the library commented in an interview with news agency “PenzaNews.”
He explained that initially the courses were held in only one direction: either working in a text editor “Word,” or operating system “Windows XP,” or basic skills of finding information on the Internet.
“In 2011, all three areas were included in the program, and in 2012 remote means of communication on the Internet, such as ICQ and Skype were also added in the list,” the agency interlocutor pointed out.
Moreover, the manuals on the lectures were published.
“The experience of having seniors taking computer courses shows that people of any age are able to master digital technology, and this helps them live a full life in modern information society,” the representative of the cultural institution administration noted.
