Influenza AH3N2 registered in Penza region

Penza, 22 January 2013. PenzaNews. The first case of influenza AH3N2 was registered during virological monitoring in the Penza region.

As the press service of the regional Service for Customer Supervision of Russia told news agency “PenzaNews,” the progress of the disease is characterized as moderate.
“In general, the situation of respiratory viral infections and influenza is non-epidemic in the region, but there is a tendency to the increasing number of cases of infection,” the press service explained.
The press service added that relatively high morbidity was registered in Zemetchinsky, Shemysheysky, Sosnovoborsky, Nikolsky, Lopatinsky, Mokshansky, Nizhnelomovsky, Penzensky areas, as well as Kuznetsk and Penza.
“In the regional center, respiratory viral morbidity has grown by 37,1% over the past week. Two forms of secondary schools No. 11 and No. 69 were dismissed under quarantine, due to the fact that only 30% of pupils or less were able to attend classes,” explained the press service of the regional Service for Customer Supervision of Russia.
