“This incident was investigated. Penza municipality presented supporting documents on radiation safety from the manufacturers of granite stone, which paves Moskovskaya St. In addition, the regional center of hygiene and epidemiology measured gamma-background in the listed areas,” the department explained.

The press service added that no charcoal with high content of anthropogenic radionuclides was found in the Penza region.

In November 2012, the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing informed about a batch of charcoal with high content of anthropogenic radionuclides 137Cs and 90Sr, registered in the Far Eastern Federal District.

According to the Service for Customer Supervision of Russia in the Penza region, this product was not implemented in the region, but the representatives of some internet agencies misinterpreted the information at their disposal and misled the population of Penza about the radiation situation.
