Penza, 1 February 2013. PenzaNews. The main celebrations dedicated to the 350th anniversary of the founding of Penza will be held on September 13–15. This was reported by the head of city department of culture Vera Feygina during a meeting of the council on preparation for the celebration on Friday, February 1. According to her, on Friday September 13, III Russian Humanitarian Forum “Project Province” will open the official celebrations.

“The main event is scheduled for Saturday, September 14. Several festivals will be held on the squares of the city: “Emerald City,” “Songs of the native land” named after A. Tarkhov, “Dance, Volga!” as well as the festival of youth music culture, street dance, graffiti and others,” she specified.

Vera Feygina explained that the center of celebrations would be on Lenin Square, where a stage and media screen would be placed.

“The stage will allow bringing to life battle and cultural history of our city. The laser show will depict Penza Cossacks, the first settlers, battle scenes, symbolic emblem creation, and the climax of the show will be the appearance of number “350.” There will be fountains with water dust on each side of the stage, with the help of which 3D pictures of the life of Penza from its foundation to the present time will be presented to the public for two days in a row,” Vera Feygina said, pointing out that an air show is also scheduled for September 14.

She added that the festival “Shurum-Burum” and III festival of ethnic music and culture “Fortress Rus” are planned for Sunday, September 15.

“Officially, we have 10 thousand participants, among who are presidential regiment, Cossack Corps, and State Circus performers. We are also looking into a possibility of involving Schweitzer vertical ballet from Austria,” Vera Feigina said.

As the press service of Penza administration told news agency “PenzaNews,” a detailed celebration script of the 350th anniversary of the city is expected to be ready within a month.
