Residents of Penza region observed 74th year since its foundation

Penza, 4 February 2013. PenzaNews. On Monday, February 4, the residents of the Penza region observed 74 years since foundation of the Penza region in its present-day borders. The region has strong industrial, agricultural, and scientific potential, rich cultural and spiritual heritage. It is steadily moving along with the changes in the country rapidly increasing its production and economic opportunities.

According to the national census of 2010, the Penza region has a population of 1,386,2 thousand people, 930,1 thousand of whom live in the cities.
The region is home to 84,09% Russians, 6,24% Tatars, 3,95% Mordovians, and 2,6% people of other nationalities.
The administrative center of the Penza region is Penza, founded in 1663. The current population of the regional center is over 500 thousand people.
