Fact of “Civil Union” website being hacked confirmed

Penza, 13 February 2013. PenzaNews. Hoster confirmed the fact that “Civil Union” foundation website was hacked. This was announced by the Executive Director of the organization Oleg Sharipkov on Wednesday, February 13.

“Attackers exploited the weakness in the control system, and gained administrative access to the website. In a short time they managed to send out about 10 letters. The hoster did not specify whether those were single messages or mass mailing,” Oleg Sharipkov said.

He noted that in the nearest future the organization will have to work hard in order to restore the website.

“Moreover, we are considering an option of applying to the law enforcement agency, and we are currently consulting the lawyers on the wording of the statement,” he added.

“Civil Union” Foundation was created in 2002.

It works under “Community Foundation” technology and is a professional management system for development and implementation of social welfare projects in the region.

“Civil Union” is one of the founders of the Partnership of Community Foundations of Russia and CIS countries. In 2005–2006, “Civil Union” presided in the partnership, and is currently its press service.

The main mission of the foundation is competitive financing of the best social projects of non-profit organizations and municipal institutions of culture, healthcare and education directed at finding solutions for social issues of the residents of the Penza region. Over the past three years “Civil Union” raised over 12 million rubles.
