Over 7,3 thousand new cases of mental disorders registered in Penza region in 2012

Penza, 26 February 2013. PenzaNews. 7,370 new cases of mental disorders were registered in the Penza region in 2012, the press service of the regional department of the Ministry of Health reported to news agency PenzaNews on Tuesday, February 26.

“The most frequently detected were neuroses and stress-related disorders — 35% of cases. The second place belongs to the non-psychotic disorders (28%) caused by brain damage as a result of diseases such as atherosclerosis, stroke, and others, as well as injuries. Psychosis and dementia made 18% of all disorders,” the department explained.

The ministry reminded that mental health care is provided in the regional hospital named after K. Evgrafov, and the departments of central district hospitals of Kamenka, Kuznetsk and Serdobsk.

“Moreover, all central district hospitals have psychiatrists under medical supervision of which over 12 thousand residents of the Penza region are treated,” added the press service of the Ministry of Health in the region.
