Penza, 1 April 2013. PenzaNews. Residents of the Penza region, intending to undertake Hajj in 2013, will be put on a special list, according to which the region will order vaccine against meningococcal disease and seasonal flu.

As the press service of the regional Service for Customer Supervision told news agency “PenzaNews,” this vaccination will be held to ensure sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population.

“In 2012, over 20 thousand Russians went on Hajj in Saudi Arabia. Eight pilgrims returned with signs of infectious disease, four people died during Hajj. 93 residents of the Penza region went on Hajj last year, one of who returned with acute respiratory disease,” the service explained.

The department also added that in 2012, they began to work on electronic database of pilgrims, which will provide all the necessary information for Hajj, including vaccination data.
