“Testing is held on one of the sections of the water treatment system, and will last until May 1. Then the experts will evaluate the effectiveness and reliability of this technology, then decide whether it is worth implementation or not,” the press service of LLC “Gorvodokanal” told news agency “PenzaNews.”
The company added that the search for an alternative method of water disinfection to the one used now — liquid chlorine treatment — is due to the desire to provide epidemiological and technological safety of treatment processes.
“Liquid chlorine is delivered to Penza by rail in special containers and stored in special conditions, which is quite insecure,” the press service explained.
LLC “Gorvodokanal” noted that the membrane electrolyzer is used directly on the water treatment plants.
“Which means, there is no need transporting and storing chlorine — it is produced on the spot in relatively small quantities and is immediately applied in the water treatment process,” the company representative explained.
