Charity lunches to be organized in Penza churches at Easter

Penza, 30 April 2013. PenzaNews. Charity lunches for nearly 400 children from socially vulnerable families will be held in eight churches of Penza at Easter, which is celebrated this year by Orthodox Christians on Sunday, May 5.
According to the press service of Penza metropolis, the organizer of this action is the social department of Penza diocese.
“Lunches will be held at Assumption Cathedral and Pokrovsky Cathedral, Cathedrals of Peter and Paul, St. Nicholas in Akhuny and Ternovka, St. Peter and St. Fevronia, and in Vvedensky and Mitrofanovsky churches,” the metropolis explained.
Easter marks the resurrection of Christ and is one of the major Christian holidays.
The Easter holiday is celebrated every year on a different date, but always falls on Sunday. Thus, all events associated with Easter, such as Palm (willow) Sunday, Ascension and Trinity also change their dates.
