Around 70 residents of Penza region suffered from tick bites during past week

Penza, 13 May 2013. PenzaNews. 68 residents of the Penza region applied to hospitals complaining about tick bites during the past week.

“Over the same period of the previous year, 95 people suffered from tick bites,” the press service of the regional department of epidemiology told news agency “PenzaNews.”

Commenting on the ixodic tick-borne borreliosis in the region, the department clarified that out of 34 ticks subjected to dark-field microscopy examination, the result was positive in six cases.

“As of Monday, May 13, acaricide treatment will be carried out on the territory of over 3 hectares, including the children recreation camp “Zarya,” the press service pointed out.
