Two bear cubs to be put in open-air cage in Penza zoo

Penza, 21 May 2013. PenzaNews. Three-month old bear cubs Matvey and Zakhar will be put in a temporary open-air cage equipped for them by the specialists of Penza zoo, by the end of May.

“The cubs were born on February 14, and were immediately left without parental care. The zoo specialists brought them up. During the first month, they were given goat milk with honey, and in the age of three months their food allowance included mixture of cereals,” the representative of the zoo told news agency “PenzaNews.”

He also noted that, despite the fact that the cubs are siblings, they have very different characters.

“Matvey — a baby-bear with a white collar — looks bigger and behaves more confident, showing independence and curiosity. Zakhar is smaller and more modest,” the agency interlocutor said.

According to him, the behavior of young animals does not leave the zoo visitors indifferent.
