Penza, 22 May 2013. PenzaNews. 4,613 children, which is 85 people more than last year, were born in the Penza region from January to April 2013.

“The birth rate in the region increased by 1,9%. The average birth rate amounted to 10,3 per 1 million people of population,” the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Penza region told news agency “PenzaNews.”

The ministry added that the infant mortality rate in the past four months decreased from 7,3 to 4,7 per one thousand of born alive.

“In the Penza region, the index fell from 8,6 to 4,3, and in Kuznetsk — from 9,5 to 2,8 per one thousand of born alive,” the ministry explained.

“The number of abortions performed in the Penza region decreased by 4,4%,” the press service informed.
