“The Pervoposelenets Monument is one of the main attractions of Penza; that is why we have to redress historical injustice and restore it to original form in the year of the 350th anniversary of the city. The base of the monument need to be framed with cobblestones as required by the project and the area around it should be landscaped. This corner of Penza should bring joy to people,” the mayor said.

As the press service of the city administration told news agency “PenzaNews,” Roman Chernov’s commission will be carried out before the end of the summer.

“Every year municipal enterprise “Zelenoe Khozyaystvo” (Green Farm) works on clearing the area adjacent to the monument, planting, watering and maintenance of flower beds. But despite these efforts, over time the pedestal lost its original appearance: part of a granite boulder was lost, the other part sagged under its own weight, and the land was overgrown with wild grass,” the mayor’s office explained.

Pervoposelenets Monument is an object of cultural heritage of regional significance.

In accordance with the passport, the pedestal of the monument is a mound of earth, surrounded by a granite plinth. Its base is oval, 10 meters by 7 meters; the height of the hill is 1.5 meters; the postament is made of polished gray granite, 3.33 by 2.5 by 0.55 meters.
