Federal government to allocate funds to study effects of chemical weapons burial near Penza

Penza, 18 June 2013. PenzaNews. 15 million rubles will be allocated from the federal budget in 2014 to study possible consequences of pre-conventional treatment of chemical weapons in Leonidovka village, the Penza region.

According to the press service of the regional government, 30 million rubles will be spent for these purposes in 2015 and 2016.

“In 2016, 30 million rubles will be allocated to develop project documents on elimination of the consequences of pre-conventional treatment of chemical weapons at Penza reservoir, in 2017 — 35 million rubles. For the remediation works on the sites of pre-conventional treatment of chemical weapons, the region will receive 550,7 million rubles in 2017, and 500 million rubles — in 2018 and 2019,” the press service added.

The government of the Penza region explained that the funds for these purposes are allocated as a part of the federal target program “Elimination of environmental damage” which will be run from 2014 to 2025.
