Penza, 19 June 2013. PenzaNews. One of the possible ways to solve the problem of cluttering up trashcan sites within Penza may be a revision of the existing norms of accumulation, storage and disposal of garbage. This opinion was expressed by the head of the city Yuri Alpatov during the meeting of the working group on city development on Wednesday, June 19.

“In general, people have become more cultured. They do not dump the waste into streams, in the forests, and on the fields. The citizens are ready to take garbage from the house to the trashcan site, which overfills very quickly,” he said.
The head of the city explained that the department of development and cleaning of the city proposed to increase the norms of garbage accumulation from 1,73 to 2,13 cu. meters per year, which will allow placing more trashcans.
According to him, there is also a problem with the removal of large solid waste, the size of which exceeds the norms set by the agreements with contractors.
Yuri Alpatov stressed that coordination of new norms of accumulation of garbage should be economically justified.
“Those resources which are now available to organizations involved in the city development are not enough, so we need to increase the volume, frequency, and quality. We shall find the necessary funds. We shall give corresponding instructions to Penza administration to make a decision at the session in August,” the head of the city commented.
