Penza, 24 June 2013. PenzaNews. The opening ceremony of the first session of the military-sports camp “Gvardeets-2” (Guardsman) was held at the parade ground of Penza branch of the Military Academy of material and technical support on Monday, June 24.

Welcoming the participants, the assistant of the plenipotentiary of the Russian president in the Volga Federal District Marat Skovorodnikov urged them to demonstrate both team-spirit and personal achievements.

“Discipline, systematic physical exercises, promotion of healthy way of life, maintaining sports traditions deserve approval and encouragement. The program of the camp will provide an opportunity to strengthen not only health but also spiritual and moral foundations which are an integral part of every man, citizen, patriot,” he stressed.

In turn, the governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev drew attention to the traditions of the university which nourished a few dozens of generals.

“There is a very good basis and excellent teachers here. I have no doubt that during the session you will realize that the most precious thing for a man is to be a defender of the Motherland,” the head of the region pointed out.
