Marathon for peace and human rights to run through Penza on July 6

Penza, 28 June 2013. PenzaNews. Penza will join the “Marathon for Peace and Human Rights” which will be held in over 15 cities of Russia and CIS countries in July.

According to the chairman of the charity fund “Youth for Human Rights” Ruslan Husainov, on Saturday, July 6, a street action “Wall of Change” will be organized in the center of Penza.

“Activists will be handing out leaflets about human rights,” the agency interlocutor said.

Ruslan Husainov added that the marathon will be held for the fifth time, and, according to the fund’s estimates, it is the largest educating action on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in the CIS countries.

“It is expected that several dozens of events of different kinds will gather approximately 100 thousand people,” Ruslan Husainov noted.

He also clarified that the main goal of the organizers is propaganda of peace and mutual assistance among citizens, promotion of volunteer work among young people, as well as prevention of juvenile crime by bringing the active population to social projects.

The marathon for Peace and Human Rights includes a series of educational activities, such as “Wall of Change,” “City of My Dreams,” round-tables and actions.

The final stage will be the summit of human rights in St. Petersburg, which is planned to gather all the marathon participants, officials, human rights activists, teachers and community leaders.

The goal of the summit is to sum up the events of the year and determine the future development of education on human rights.
