City Hall: Seven people drowned since beginning of swimming season in Penza

Penza, 4 July 2013. PenzaNews. Seven men aged 30–60 drowned in water bodies located in Penza in June 2013. This was reported by the press service of the city administration on Thursday, July 4.

The mayor’s office added that the main cause of deaths was the fact that people swam in water bodies which were not equipped for this purpose, and, moreover, in a state of intoxication.

“The most common places of mass recreation and swimming which are not suitable for this are Barkovka, TPP-1, dam near restaurant “Zaseka,” area in Litvinova St, at station “Penza-III,” as well as Peski Island and village Lesnoy,” the press service explained.

Penza administration emphasized that all of those places are equipped with signs “No Swimming.”
