According to the engineer on assessment and demolition of greenery of the enterprise Olga Sokolova, the specialists are planning to visit the area in the nearest future.

She explained that, in connection with the construction of the cathedral, permission for cutting down several trees was issued.

“Now we need to find out whether the cut down trees are within the area of construction,” the agency interlocutor said.

“If this is an unauthorized felling, we shall make up the act and send it to the police,” the engineer on assessment and demolition of greenery added.

Spassky Cathedral is an Orthodox religious building crowning Sobornaya (now Sovetskaya) square in Penza.

Its bell tower had been built from 1790 to 1799, and the temple itself — from 1800 to 1824.

In 1923 it was closed, the next year it was given over to the archive, and in 1934 was destroyed.

In 2010, the restoration of the Cathedral began.
