Rostelekom expands optical network in Kuznetsky area

Penza, 1 August 2013. PenzaNews. Rostelekom expanded the optical communication network in Kuznetsky area, the Penza region.
“Multi-storied houses in Zavodskaya St in village Yasnaya Polyana have been connected to broadband network with capacity of up to 100 Mbit/s using FTTB (fiber to the building) technology. The infrastructure will enable the subscribers having access to a set of telecommunication services, including the Internet, interactive TV and telephony,” the head of the press service of Penza branch of OJSC Rostelekom Alexei Makarov told news agency “PenzaNews.”
He also drew attention to the fact that the company offers the new subscribers of optical network service packages, one of which is “Summer TvIn 100” with the Internet access at 100 Mbit/s and “Interactive TV.”
“As an additional option a package of HD-channels is offered. Equipment – STB-top box, WiFi-router – is included in the package “Summer TvIn 100,” the agency interlocutor noted.
Alexei Makarov said that in 2011–2012, Rostelekom significantly expanded data transmitting network using FTTB technology in the Penza region.
“The opportunity to take advantage of modern communication services now belongs not only to Penza residents, but also to the residents of the regional centers and villages. Currently, over 2,5 million multi-storied buildings in Penza and the area have been covered by the fiber optic network by Rostelekom. The company plans to keep on widening the network coverage, developing broadband services and service packages which would be of great interest to the subscribers,” he pointed out.
