Penza, 7 August 2013. PenzaNews. Charity event “Heat as Gift,” the participants of which will work together to bind blankets for lonely veterans of World War II including those living in nursing homes, started in Penza.

“Residents of the region are invited to bind a square cloth of wood, 25 by 25 cm, which will then become a small part of a blanket. Warm blankets will be given to veterans. Some of them were children during the war and have lost their parents; others experienced the horrors of Nazi concentration camps or the siege of Leningrad; others were deported for forced labor in Germany. All of them miss warmth, care and kind words since a young age,” Executive Director of Penza community foundation “Civil Union” Oleg Sharipkov told news agency “PenzaNews.”

He added that the residents of the region, who cannot bind, could donate wool yarns, marking it with “Heat as Gift” label.

“The campaign will last until the end of 2014. Its results will be announced every three months,” Oleg Sharipkov explained.
