Penza authorities are looking for a legitimate way to hold another tender for Zoo reconstruction prior to the termination of the contract with an unscrupulous contractor who blew the deadline of substantial completion, which was scheduled before the celebration of the 350th anniversary of the city. This was announced by the mayor Roman Chernov during the visiting meeting of City Duma on Thursday, August 8.

“We decided to cancel the contract – the contractor did not appear on the site even a week after the arrival of Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Volga Federal District Mikhail Babich. Now we are looking for a legal way to hold another tender before the termination of the contract. We do not know how to do it yet, we are carefully studying the legislation,” said the head of the city administration.

He also added that the Zoo reconstruction would not be completed before the anniversary of Penza. However, according to him, it is necessary to finish the utility hook-up process as soon as possible.

“It is 90% ready – all the supply lines are laid, it is necessary to tie in,” said Roman Chernov.
