Penza, 23 August 2013. PenzaNews. The number of minors registered in the police for drug use has increased by 4,2 times in the Penza region since the beginning of 2013.

According to the decision of the Legislative Assembly “On drug situation in the Penza region and the measures taken to improve it,” adopted by the deputies during the regular session on Friday, August 23, the main reason for the increase is the rising number of teenagers smoking spices.

The document states the number of cases of spice poisoning increased from 10 in 2011 to 100 in 2013.

“The total number of people who committed crimes in drug trafficking reduced by 2%, while the number of minors who committed drug-related crimes grew by 7%,” the document reads.

In this regard, the Legislative Assembly deputies recommended the Department of the Federal Service for Drug Trafficking Control in the Penza region, the regional government, and local authorities to implement a series of measures aimed at preventing drug use and growth of number of drug addicts.
