“We have a serious problem — the students do not want to study physics and take exams in it. Many university departments, which are required by the real sector of the economy today, remain unpopular among school graduates. We need to consider a project to develop a step-by-step instruction of what must be done to motivate administration of schools, teachers, and students to study this subject,” the head of the region said during an operational meeting on Monday, September 2.

According to Vasily Bochkarev, universities should work more closely with prospective students and their parents explaining what professions are the most demanded in the region.

“Probably, there is a need to promote secondary specialized education among students of the 8-9 grades, and then do everything so that the students of the 10-11 grades knew why they need to study physics,” the governor of the Penza region suggested.
