Russian doctors to discuss alternative treatments in psychiatry in Penza

Penza, 5 September 2013. PenzaNews. Scientific-practical conference “Alternative Treatments in Psychiatry” opened in Penza regional psychiatric hospital named after K. Evgrafova on Thursday, September 5.

Among the participants is the chief doctor of the Republican Psychiatric Hospital of Mordovia Vyacheslav Podsevatkin, the head of the Department of Geriatrics and Gerontology of Samara State Medical University Natalia Zakharova, the chief psychotherapist of Penza and the director of the Research Center “Psychotherapy” academician Vladimir Sgibov, and other well-known experts.
The conference agenda includes issues of skazkoterapiya [fairy-tale therapy], hirudotherapy, apitherapy and ozone therapy. There will also be discussion of psycho-physiological aspects of fasting therapy, and other relevant topics.
According to the deputy chief doctor of the Penza regional psychiatric hospital after K. Evgrafova, the chief freelance psychiatrist of the region Vyacheslav Belousov, the event has a practical orientation, and the main reason for this conference is the increase in psychosomatic disorders among the population.
“We see that one in three adults reveals certain characteristics of nerve disorders. Insomnia, irritability, loss of appetite, fatigue, depressed mood — these are all light symptoms which seem to be familiar to everyone. But those are only droplets which form the river called neurosis. If left untreated, there might be pathological development to it leading to disability,” the agency interlocutor pointed out.
