Rostelekom to connect high-rise buildings in village Lopatino to optical fiber

Penza, 12 September 2013. PenzaNews. Rostelekom will connect over 40 two-storied houses located in village Lopatino, the Penza region, to the Internet using FTTB technology.
According to the press secretary of Penza branch of OJSC Rostelekom Alexei Makarov, the company has already started the construction of the broadband network there.
“FTTB technology involves transmission of data over optical fiber line with high bandwidth. For its construction Rostelekom usually uses underground service lines. After the commissioning of the lines, the subscribers will be able to take advantage of the company packages, including unified federal service “Home Internet” and “Interactive TV” the agency interlocutor said.
He reminded that at present Rostelekom offers their new users of the optical network a few package offers with the Internet of up to 100 Mbit / s and “Interactive TV” with up to 200 channels, including HD ones, as well as convenient online services — film ordering, recording and postponed program viewing.
“The launch of the commercial operation of the network “fiber to the building” in village Lopatino is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2013,” Alexei Makarov specified.
He also noted that in 2011-2012 Rostelekom significantly expanded data transmitting network of FTTB technology in the Penza region.
“Today not only Penza residents, but also the residents of the area centers and villages of the region have an opportunity to use modern communication services. Currently, over 2,6 million of high-rise buildings in Penza and the region are covered by the optical fiber network of Rostelekom. We plan to develop the multi-service network in the region,” the press secretary of Penza branch of OJSC Rostelekom concluded.
