Three Penza lyceums and two gymnasiums entered list of best schools of Russia

Penza, 17 September 2013. PenzaNews. Penza gymnasium No. 6 and No. 44, lyceum No. 55, the provincial lyceum-boarding school for gifted children, as well as lyceum No. 230 of Zarechny entered the list of the top 500 educational institutions of 2012-2013 school year.
The list compiled by the Moscow Center for Continuous Mathematical Education together with the Group of RIA Novosti and “Uchitelskaya gazeta” [Teacher's Newspaper], and with the assistance of the Ministry of Education of Russia, was published on Tuesday, September 17.
According to the report, 500 top educational institutions include 1,7 % of schools in the Penza region, and the number of graduates of the best educational institutions is 4,5 % of the total number in the region.
The first place of the list belongs to Moscow school No. 1535. The total number of Moscow schools in the list amounted to 89, which is 6,4 % of the total. 15% of all graduates of Moscow studied in these educational institutions.
The list of top schools of Russia was compiled to assess the contribution of a school in providing opportunities to obtain high-quality knowledge and develop students’ talents.
Among the criteria used to evaluate the participants were the highest score on state unified exams on general subjects and student achievements at the all-Russian Olympiad of 2013.
In addition, one of the necessary conditions for entering the list was having at least one student-winner or awardee of the final stage of the all-Russian Student Olympiad within the past three academic years.
