Penza governor urged university rectors to raise prestige of educational establishments and not “grow bellies”

Penza, 24 September 2013. PenzaNews. Penza university rectors should make greater efforts to improve the image of local institutions of higher education for students living in the region. This opinion was expressed by the governor of the Penza region Vasily Bochkarev during a meeting with journalists of the regional media.

“We need that our rectors to stop growing their bellies, but worked on increasing of the prestige of their establishments and teachers. This is very important in order to make Penza a student city, and most importantly, to urge local applicants to enroll in our university. Let them come from other regions — this will provide the influx of money,” the head of the region said.
In his opinion, each university must be focused on work with prospective students beginning from school, telling about highly qualified teaching staff and relevance of existing areas of study.
“More than one thousand students left Penza this year heading to Moscow. When we direct our future health care workers to Samara and Saratov, 90 % of them come back. However, their return from the capital is much more complicated,’ the governor pointed out.
