Number of infectious diseases in Penza region increased by 45,5 % in last year

Penza, 30 September 2013. PenzaNews. The number of infectious diseases, registered in the territory of the Penza region from January to August 2013 is 90,5 thousand, which 45,5 % more than last year.

The regional office representative of Russian Agency for Health and Consumer Rights told news agency PenzaNews that the incidence of chin cough disease is increased by 42,9 % - 55 cases registered, including 52 cases among children under 14.

“The situation with tuberculosis is stable. The incidence rate is 27,9 for 100 thousand people, which is 10,8 % lower than in 2012. However, the incidence rate of the bacilliform tuberculosis is 22,5 % higher the rate of the corresponding period in the last year,” the informant said.

He added that relative decrease in HIV infection incidence is observed – 11,7 for 100 thousand people, which is 8,5 % lower than last year.

“The incidence of the majority of social diseases is on the relatively low level. The incidence rate for 100 thousand people is 13,7 for syphilis (+ 10,5 % compared to 2012), 14,2 for gonococcal infection (+25,7 %),” the department representative remarked.

According to him, blood-borne virus hepatitis mongering is still a complex and controversial issue, the total rate of chronic forms incidence for the last 8 months of 2013 is 13,4 for 100 thousand people.

“Within this period there have been cases of chronic and latent forms of C and B hepatitis registered among children and adolescents of the Penza region,” the informant said.
