Day for Elderly celebrated in Penza

Penza, 1 October 2013. PenzaNews. The solemn celebration of the Day for the Elderly was held in Penza Regional Drama Theatre named after A. Lunacharsky on Tuesday, October 1. While greeting the elderly people gathered in the theatre, Penza region governor Vasily Bochkarev expressed his gratitude for their courage and stoutness in the years of the Great Patriotic War and for the national economy reconstruction.

“I would like to express my gratitude to you for your contribution in building education, medical, culture and sport facilities, roads and bridges, and for your dignity in bringing up the new generation,” the head of the region said.
The head of Penza Yuri Alpatov in his turn remarked that the elderly left the youth rich heritage, which should be cared for and greatened.
Vladimir Kerkhanadzhev, the Great Patriotic War veteran and the battle of Stalingrad participant, sent his greeting to the elderly too.
During the celebration some of the comers were rewarded with letters of honor, certificates of gratitude, and other gifts.
