Penza, 7 October 2013. PenzaNews. 100 thousand rubles penalty was inflicted to the president of the Penza regional branch of the invalids’ public organization “Blagochestie” (Piety) Sergei Makarov.

“He was found guilty of committing the crime under part 1 Article 199 of the Russian Criminal Code “Evasion of the Payment of Taxes and/or Duties by an Organization,” Senior Assistant of the Head of Investigative Department of Investigative Committee in Penza, Media relations division Lyudmila Fomina told news agency “PenzaNews.”

She explained that from the period of October 2011 to March 2012 the convicted person did not pay taxes amounting to more than 3 million rubles through misuse of VAT relief.

The Penza regional public organization of invalids “Blagochestie,” using the status of public organization and taking advantage of the benefits provided under Article 149 of the Tax Code, conducted not charitable but business activities, therewith rendered no social, medical or other assistance to people with disabilities,” the agency interlocutor said.

Lyudmila Fomina, noted that the verdict is not legally in force and may be appealed against within the term established by law.
