Penza, 7 October 2013. PenzaNews. The Penza Sculpture Park “Legend” is not ranked among ten winners of the multimedia competition “Russia 10.” The results were announced on Sunday, October 6. As previously reported, Akhmad Kadyrov Mosque “Heart of Chechnya” and Kolomna Kremlin were declared winners ahead of time. The top ten favorite Russian sights include Pskov, Rostov and Niznny Novgorod Kremlins, Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius, Lake Baikal, Kizhi, Mamayev Kurgan and sculpture Mother Motherland is calling.

According to the competition rules, there was no ranking among the ten finalists – they are equal winners of the project.

The multimedia project “Russia 10” started on 10 March 2013. The Penza region was represented by the Sculpture Park “Legend” created in Mokshansky area.
From the beginning of the competition top figures of Penza encouraged people to actively support the regional sight.

However, “Legend” participation in the competition involved a scandal – the use of administrative resources while promoting the Sculpture Park was widely discussed by the public in the Penza region. So, for example, communists distributed a copy of the letter sent on behalf of the Minister of Education of the region Svetlana Kopeshkina to subordinated institutions, where pupils, students and teachers were offered to organize consistent voting for the Sculpture Park “Legend.”

At the end of August Penza project managed to reach the third place.

However, by the end of the final the Sculpture Park “Legend” was among outsiders in the list of 30 participants.

The survey held by Russian Public Opinion Research Center on 21–22 September 2013 showed that only 3% of Russians called “Legend” a symbol of the country, and only when all the participants of the project were reminded of.
